One of the things that I found most unfamiliar was the size of the leaves on the trees. Not even in the Pacific Northwest do I recall leaves that spanned six to eight inches; and down here in Florida only palms and ferns have "leaves" that big or bigger. Our Red Maple and Live Oak certainly lack foliage of that size.
